[thanks for the makeshift bandage grandson, it's still holding up strong.
but mikazuki seems to have given himself something of a small personal mission today. he walks out of the courtyard, carrying some flowers into his arms. where is he going.
[well! zuko is welcome to follow after grandpa - who is walking, but also not stopping or slowing. the more steps he take, it's pretty clear that he's favoring his right leg over the left and the blood seems to be coming mostly from the left side in the trail of pool water and red.
he's also not answering because he's going to his room]
In a language that only another weapon would understand, you ask your question in the form of strikes. What is on your mind? What burdens your heart? What is the source of your ache?
You feel it in the heaviness of his blows. You see it in the haze of his eyes. Iwatooshi was only manifested in this body recently - so recently - and the heaviness of his emotions overwhelms him. Worried over his partner, his dear Imanotsurugi he finds himself at war: the mission, or the happiness of the one he loves most?
If only things were so simple.
You can give him no answer - but you give him a place to air his thoughts. You are unsurprised by this confusion, this whirlwind inside of him.
This is what it means to be a weapon given a heart.
Even your own is constantly on the verge of breaking.
[ zuko, in a weird way, can almost relate to this. to iwatooshi, that is. he's been at war with himself for so long, before all this --- it took him so long to find an answer, too. ]
[ ... the singing is new. but the rest of it fits with the little he does understand about mikazuki. ]
[ protecting the people you love.... and then having to do your duty.... it really is a common theme. even zuko has experienced it a little, himself. ]
How do you cope with it?
[ he helped the other sword through sparring and dancing, but what about mikazuki himself? ]
week 0, saturday
having a cup of tea
when he sees zuko wandering around he does beckon him over]
Would you care to have a cup of tea with this old man?
no subject
[ well, it's tea. he's been influenced by iroh too much. ]
Uh, sure, I guess.
[ zuko pads over.... ]
Did you make it?
no subject
[a gesture to the shadowy figures who are running the tea service... and quickly move to prepare zuko a cup as well]
What type of tea are you partial to?
no subject
[ he debates refusing the cup but they've already pushed it into his hands. ]
... Jasmine. That's what Uncle likes.
[ two tags in and already talking about iroh. ] I guess.... you like tea too?
no subject
mikazuki laughs gently at that]
Ha ha ha. I do, I do. There is always time for a good cup of tea.
Your uncle has good taste.

week 0, post-trial
[ also if he sees jiji tries to drink tea with a stabbed cheek zuko is going to slap it!! out of his hand!!! just like he did to iroh ]

mikazuki watches his tea clatter to the ground sadly]
My tea...

[ this is out of concern. probably. ]
You're going to burn the inside of your cheek!

week 0, post-execution
but mikazuki seems to have given himself something of a small personal mission today. he walks out of the courtyard, carrying some flowers into his arms. where is he going.
but he nods at zuko once he sees him - ]
Zuko. And how are you faring today?
no subject
I don't think anyone's faring particularly well after all that.
[ that execution was worse than emet-selch's speech ]
Are those for the graves?
no subject
[zuko has now been roped into grandpa antics. jiji will pause.... so that he can help hand some of the flowers over to zuko to carry]
... though you are right that it was a rather...
... Unconventional affair.
no subject
[ that's very weak complaining though, he doesn't seem to mind getting roped in.... especially since he's still worried about grandpa ]
More like a really stupid affair. And then the announcement at the end....

week 3, monday
[greeting! but also there's almost instantly stardust. memshare time.
”Clouds will gather before the moon, and the wind will disperse the flowers.”
You draw your blade.

[ ... the singing is new. but the rest of it fits with the little he does understand about mikazuki. ]
Do you have to choose?
no subject
[ . . . . ]
We all do. It is a fact of what we are... however, I find that it is not an uncommon experience for humans as well.

week 3, pre-curfew
he has two to-go cups!! what's inside, who knows]
no subject
... Hey. I heard Tsurumaru was in the other group. Is he okay?
no subject
Mm. He is resting now, as well.
[and he will offer out a cup]
When you are older, I will offer you the choice of tea or sake the same as the others.
no subject
Good. He seems like the stubborn type.
[ not that zuko is. of course not. he makes a face, because he is a man!!!! (he's 16) ]
I know you're super old, [ rude ] but I'm not a kid.
[ he takes his tea without complaints, though, taking a small sip and relaxing a fraction. he's quite happy with the tea, actually ]
i'm still going to shoot you
