There is a funny pattern among your comrades - how excited they are to make play that they have switched identities. Curiously, this is the first time that it has happened to you.
It is done because you are told that you are too difficult - and there is something wryly amused to your smile when it is said. After all, not once did you ever suggest that you were a person who is easy to handle either.
Hearing your own thoughts reflected back to you is only proof of that.
You have committed a great act of defiance - you have told the humans of your mission. You have told them of your goal to keep history exactly as it is, and their role in it. You do not care for how you are criticized. Sometimes, they listen. Sometimes, they do not.
Either way - you will take care of it.
(But is that not the greatest tragedy of all? For human possibility to be relegated to something as finite as fate. And yet you have seen the tragedy that comes from when you deviate. You have seen how all of humanity might be made forfeit, if you prize one over the many.
That does not mean that your heart does not break.)
It is only when he begins to speak of your master that you feel something new. Ire. Your smile turns sharp, and you encourage him to stop.
. . .
But Higekiri continues to speak - and he talks of your master. Your master, who inspires this ache in your chest whenever you think of him. He was worried about you. Somehow, even when you strive to solve it all on your own, you manage to make trouble for others.
It is simply unfortunate - that that is not reason enough to get you to stop. ]
[ HER HUG.....!! she was heading straight for the protective embrace of jiji's arms but clearly, the stardust had other plans for them. yet even three weeks in, it takes a minute for her to realize even he's not immune from the hotel's effect of the week and focus on what it's trying to show her.
immediately, she's delighted to hear someone see jiji so clearly, all his layers and all is fascinating to her. for all that he hides behind his cheery old man persona even she can't see that deep beneath the mask but this certainly gives her the insight she's been unable to find. it just took another nother sword to do it, ha.
eventually, she blinks up at her favorite grandpa, mischief forming in her eyes as she finally shuffles her way forward ]
[ SCORE ONE TO THE GREMLIN. their shared mischief makes her break out into delighted giggles as she finally latches around him for the hug she was looking for.
her brain is already so tired from the nigh constant bombardment of memories cracking over everyone's heads but these little moments of little shared laughs seem to be the needed balm to keep going. (besides, who doesn't want to see gramps winding up like a baseballer to bop someone in the nose?) ]
[ it sure is a heady feeling when someone like Mizazuki Munechika, nationally renowned historic sword turned person is glad she's around. sure he's just her derpy jiji, and 'here' specifically isn't the greatest place to be... but after her own blood kin so easily discarded her like street trash, you don't really expect to hear such a thing ever again. it's just another little reminder that things are better now.
even if it's a little more murdery than appreciated. ]
I'm glad you're here too.
[ and if it sounds a little watery.... well, that's just between her and the fabric she's buried in ]
but mikazuki smiles faintly at that, and will just curl himself slightly more against her, holding her close in an embrace. it's soft and warm - in a way that only this body could give him the chance to be. to truly hold onto those that he finds so dear.]
Mm. And I will continue to be here, for as long as you want me.
week 3, monday
[he's about to say something else but it's stardust time baby
”I’m a crescent moon at best.”

So how badly did you want to deck him for that?
no subject
... a national treasure ought not 'deck' anyone.
[but like
yes the desire was there]
no subject
I won't tell if you won't.
[ but like, she'd also pay good money to actually see it happen. maybe bring a recorder with her so she could save it as a gif(t) too. ]

he ends up laughing, pleased, despite the memory itself. he lets his hand fall upon her head, running through her hair.]
There is nothing to tell.
[but based on the gleam of mischief in his eyes
she has her answer]

I am glad you are here, Futaba Sakura.

[ god help them if futaba visits the citadel but also, poor sojiro if/when jiji pops into leblanc. both routes will only end in chaos.
... inari's definitely gonna flip his entire existence upon seeing jiji, hm. ]
I'm gonna be older and greyer than you are one day and I'm still gonna be expecting weekly jiji tea time.

You have quite some time before then even still, Futaba Sakura...
But know that no matter the age, or what shall pass, I will come to see you - through every season, and century.

I plan on being around for a long, long time! And if I can, maybe even longer!
[ time to invent brain-to-AI tech just so she can keep him company forever ]
no subject
... then you know well that I would never deny your company, my dear.
