I am willing to posit that the truth is comprised of both - a matter of defense, as well as an intention to maintain a facade of a different identity, just as the other staff are.
While we do not need to speak in detail of their true identities, particular directly to them.... it is at least part of the mystery of this place.
I do believe they are monitored by their employer, so perhaps they are attempting to mislead the people involved here. I... [ uuughhhhh ] completely trust that they have our best intentions at heart, for all their secrecy.
