My blade is important to me. It's seen me through many a nearly hopeless situation.
[ he gives a thoughtful pause. ]
Diluc is a blacksmith himself, though he doesn't have much time for it as a hobby, as he runs a large winery. [ he shrugs a little ] I suppose I just grew up around the right people, learned to appreciate blades. Enduring, loyal, an extension of the body. Sometimes, when I'm traveling alone for my work, it's all I have.
but kaeya nods quietly at that after a moment, his hand trailing down to brush precisely where his sword would be, right next to his vision. it feels kind of like insult to injury. but it's fine...ish. ]
Then maybe, when I find myself reunited with it once more, I will bestow a proper name upon it. A name, after all, gives power to something as well, I believe.
Ha ha ha... There are all manner of ways to name your sword.
It may be something that comes to mind when you gaze upon it - after all, I am named Mikazuki after the crescent moons that line my blade. My companion, Kogitsunemaru, is named after the fox spirit that helped our smith forge him.
Others still are named after tales of what they have cut - Onikiri, for the sword that slain countless demons. Tonbokiri, for a spear so sharp that when a dragonfly laid upon its blade, it was cut clear in two.
Adding your own last name to your sword is a common practice... says I, who was forged by none other than Sanjou Munechika.

[but he doesn't seem particularly concerned]
I would worry little over it.

Like a sword that's been chipped needs care to sharpen its blade to see to the next fight if it suffers a nick, so do our bodies. You know this.

Might you have bestowed a name upon your sword?
no subject
You know, Jiji... I'm ashamed to say that no. I haven't.
[ cries in sacrificial sword because aquila favonia isn't canon for him. he rests his chin in his palm. ]
Do you think I should? A proper name?
no subject
but mikazuki smiles at that]
I do.
Names are a curious thing. At times, I wonder how much they matter. Others, I acknowledge that I am little more than the light of the crescent moon.
But to give a name blade allows it to have even just one more mark upon history - to make clear its existence in the long arc of time.

[he cants his head to the side]
Do you possess any notions toward what you might name it?
no subject
[ he looks down at his hands. ]
Truly, I'm embarrassed to say that I'm not sure where to even begin.
